The Zagat Review
This all-day Greenpoint “staple” “remains a favorite” in “hipsterville” for “out-of-this-world” burgers, “incredible pancakes” and other “reliable” New American eats; despite often- “crowded” digs and occasional “attitude” , it’s pretty “perfect for brunch” – with the “long lines” to prove it.

Good food. I went yesterday with a friend, and had a lovely time. Ambiance is great, and I had the burger (no bun), which was really well done and unique. Tonight, I went my myself, ordered the same thing, and expressed to them how much I liked the ambiance and food. I posted up on the bar to finish some work on my laptop while waiting for the burger. No one else was at the bar; just the bartenders hanging out and chatting with each other, and one who seemed to be their friend but likely worked there too. I had my laptop screen on its dimmest setting, as to not disturb anyone. One of the waitresses came and told me they have a no-laptop policy. Seriously, in a moderately empty restaurant with no one at the bar, you're going to ask me to turn off my laptop? This is no a Michelin star restaurant. This is a bar. And the only people who might be disturbed to see someone working and not just hanging out would be the bartenders. So I put my laptop away and got the burger (no-bun) to-go. They gave it to-go, but they forgot to give me silverware, so the burger with no-bun was not edible in a reasonable fashion until I was able to get silverware from the hotel, which didn't come until the burger was cold (that part's not their fault, but they should have included silverware). Also they included 4 small catchup packets which barely made it through half the fries. Yes, a little butt-hurt, but the devils are in the details, and it kills me when bars get egos and do things like a no laptop policy, especially when the only people to disturb are the bartenders. And why would you be disturbed to see someone working alone on a laptop (on its most dim setting) in the first place.

Awesome food!! Everything is absolutely delicious! Nice cocktails and atmosphere with the music. Definitely recommend that place (you might experience some waiting time before you get a table, but it’s totally worth it)

I want to love the place because of mostly positive reviews but the food underwhelmed me as did the poor service. Perhaps, slow and leisurely is the culture of service. Had fresh oyster for apps, underwhelming. Burger, extremely salty and cold duck sausage and boring lamb meatballs. I would overlooked the blah of the food because of the very hip Brooklyn vibe of the crowd but really, underwhelming. Needless to say, I hoped that the food and service match the cool decor and vibe of the restaurant.
