With their “Vermont” feel, these “quaint” American “country kitchens” have fans crowing about their “farm-fresh” fare and “hippie” air; citified pricing, “slow service” and a “jammed” weekend brunch come with the territory.

I used to eat breakfast here almost daily and I can say that Friend of A Farmer is definitely not the mainstay I remember it being.. My family recently had an afternoon meal here and although it wasn’t a bad experience by any means, it was less than remarkable.. The food was pretty good.. The staff was just friendly and attentive enough.. There was no wait, which was definitely nice, but it took about 30 minutes of circling the neighborhood to find a parking spot.. One area where this establishment still shines is it’s decor.. I’ve always appreciated the farmhouse vibe here and they’ve really kept that present.. My guess is that the ownership has changed and they’ve kept the aesthetic intact, but the kitchen and staff have changed.. I can’t really suggest this place for anything other than a reliable breakfast or lunch in a nice setting.. Sorry Friend of A Farmer but you just aren’t the “friend” I once remembered you to be..

This mainstay on Irving Place used to be farm-to-table fresh. Used to be full of flavor. Used to be full of farm charm. used to have great service. Used to. Used to. Used to. I was incredibly disappointed with this most recent visit. The food was mediocre at best. The service was horrific. The french fries cold. Brought to our table twice. And cold the second time. I can only imagine that this place is still open because they have a 50 year old lease or that they own the building. Regardless, stop going here. Stop being complacent. Stop being nostalgic. And go for better taste and better food elsewhere.

Great place, amazing food. Service is great! 4 stars only because when it gets busy servers may forget about little details, which is understandable, and the sausage that tasted like paper. But everything else was truly amazing! Highly recommend:) just skip the sausage lol
