The Zagat Review
"After a night out in North Beach" , this "hole-in-the-wall" is a "lifesaver" , serving "thick" , "killer" squares of focaccia pizza with "lots of good toppings" to "soak up the booze" (and "it's pretty tasty sober too" ); though "one doesn't go for the decor or service" , it's "funky" and "friendly" enough – not to mention "quick" and "cheap."

This is the best pizza in the entire bay area. Yes that is one hell of a claim but it is one that I stand by. I personally love facoccia bread pizza, thick crust square cut pizza with rosemary and other herbs baked into the crust. That is exactly what Golden Boy has perfected. It's a punk rock kind of joint, and they have beer. . They make sheets of pizza and you have your choice of cheese, pepperoni, combo, veggie with pesto sauce, or a clam pizza. Yes I said clam pizza, apparently it is really good, I just have not managed to stray from my pepperoni, cheese, and combo platter of heaven. Some day I might try the clam but I have been saying that since I first tried the place many years ago. On a Friday or Saturday night the line for the place can wrap the block but the crowd is usually a good one. Parking is a nightmare unless you have a motorcycle. They have motorcycle parking right in front, if you are in a car you are going to have to just pop the hazards and double park. If you are quick in and out people are understanding and I have never caught any guff for double parking. Stop thinking it over, go get a slice and you will not regret it.

This place is very lovely and will be too much crowded during weekends. They make very good vegetarian slice pizzas. They serve draught beers which is very fresh. This is very small place and the crowd can stretch even outside the store along the street. The crew makes sure the food is delivered quick onto the table. Please note this is mostly a self service place, where you order and pick the food to move onto a table.

I had heard of this place from a friend. I visited in the evening. It was crowded so we knew it must be good. I think we waited about 25 minutes to order. I just got the cheese and it was worth the wait. There is a place to sit and eat and alcohol is served here. It was great.
