“Superb” hand-rolled pastas (sometimes made by the owner’s mama) are the “main attraction” at this “low-key” West Village Italian, but other “savory” dishes shine as well; a “strong wine list” , a “casual ambiance” and “friendly” service further secure its standing as an area “favorite.”

Nice and casual Italian restaurant Opens for dinner.. It's located in the middle of the block between 6 and 7 av on w/13st.. So you won't hear lots of trucks and cars beeping there horn when you're eating..its quiet there. Lol

This restaurant is as authentic as I've ever experienced. There is an older lady rolling ravioli (or tortellini?) right as you walk into the doorway. The portions are just enough and both the wine and cocktail menus offer some memorable drinks that are also reasonably priced.

Gradisca is a sophisticated, intimate Italian restaurant situated in the cellar of a historic brownstone located in the west village. Gradisca serves authentic, Italian cuisine with a menu focused on locally sourced, organic seasonal ingredients and homemade, hand-rolled pasta. The exposed brick, blood red walls, low hung ceilings and candlelit tables contribute to its romantic, rustic, cozy ambiance. The service is superb and the food is fresh. Upon a recent visit we enjoyed the cavetelli with eggplant, tomato, basil and ricotta salata, the crispy artichokes with garlic aioli and the polenta with wild mushrooms in a creamy parmesan sauce - all of which I’d highly recommend. They balance the delicacy of their dishes with modest portions and unusual combinations. Gradisca is a standout with locals because it’s a timeless establishment in an ever changing landscape.
