Harold's Restaurant & Tap Room
New American eats above a cool grocer

The Zagat Review
“Unique choices” like eggplant and oyster–stuffed quail and crispy housemade boudin balls are found on the menu of the main restaurant of this multipurpose “neighborhood” establishment in the Heights, where the fun American fare often takes on a Louisiana accent; set on the second floor of a repurposed retailer, its patio provides “a very cool view” of the main thoroughfare below.

Worse than disappointing. I'd heard there was a new chef, and decided we'd give it a shot (I'd been lukewarm on the past menu). So we went for mother's day brunch, and I ordered the chicken pot pie. The pastry was laid over the top of a cereal bowl, and that bowl was filled with a thin, soupy gruel with little bits of chewy chicken and mushrooms floating in it. There was no pastry on the bottom of the "pot pie" to soak up the slop. There weren't any veggies in the bowl, aside from some overcooked bits if potatoes. I would have preferred a reheated Swanson pot pie from the grocery store frozen food aisle. It's cheaper and tastes better. This "special meal" set me back something like $40. I will not be giving this place another chance.

A nice surprise. Professional and attentive service. Food is original and well prepared. Good beer selection. Nice view over the street. I'll be back.

Ate dinner here on the patio, what a beautiful spot. The drinks were superb, food was excellent and the service top notch. If you can get a table on the terrace I'd highly recommend that. Also had a great chat with the manager who was super friendly and gave us some good recommendations for local entertainment in the area
