“Marvelous” “cucina rustica” pairs with a “well-crafted” wine list in “intimate farmhouse-inspired” surrounds that’ll “transport” you to a “Tuscan home” at this NoHo Med-Italian; if it gets “loud” , the downstairs wine cellar is a “beautiful” alternative, though it’s “not cheap” no matter where you sit.

Insider Tip
Its legendary wine cellar is among the city’s more atmospheric dining spaces, but you can also book the upstairs Chef’s Table, a quasi-private nook just outside the kitchen.

I wanted to like this place more than and I did, so maybe our expectations were just too high. The limited large plate menu changes, so you need to take a leap of faith and trust something calls for you. Prices are steep and plates are small, making it more challenging to share on a budget. I get it, high-end dining. We ordered bread (served cold with dreamy olive oil) and split one pasta and meat dish between two people. Pasta was underwhelming, but lamb was near perfection. It was definitely enough food, and some of it, very good, but we still left wondering if the bill really matched our experience. This place is probably best if money is truly no issue because it’ll be less disheartening when some dishes don’t meet high standards. You can always try again next time, right? As for ambiance, il Buco delivers. It’s traditional and cozy. But tables near the front bar have to withstand constant door traffic, so make sure to position yourself passed the hostess.

The food was good. This a hipster joint with communal seating including a giant picnic table. seats are not too comfortable. The space is tight and place easily gets crowded. Would not recommend for a romantic night out. Hostess was not overly welcoming or accommodating.

Excellent service, delicious food and wine. Lovely atmosphere and decor. We dined late, about 10pm but had no problem securing a reservation and service was excellent and we weren't rushed. I loved everything.
