The Zagat Review
“As good as ever” , these “old-school” Italians “don’t miss” , offering “overabundant portions” , “loads of freebies” and all-around “luscious” fare; servers must “perform a ballet” to get around the “cramped” Village “landmark” (UES is roomier), and though it’s “memorable” for sure, your wallet may “hurt afterwards.”

I’ve never experienced such a poorly trained staff. The water was poored from My left side so that I had to stop the conversation & lean back to avoid being hit in the head with the metal water pitcher. Food was served & removed from one place so that again, conversation stopped & we all ducked our heads to not get hit by a plate of food! These are just a couple examples of a staff that doesn’t know the protocols of serving. It all created an extremely unenjoyable experience & I would never return. Food & service is good at too many ither Italian restaurants in the city.

What can't you say about Il Mulino? It's amazing. Food is spectacularly presented and each bite is a culinary experience. That being said, you're paying. This isn't your mom and pop share a plate Italian restaurant. The experience starts with a couple of salads and some chunks of parmesan. So good. Then they serve you whatever you'd like. I had the osso buco and it was succulent. Don't hesitate.

The food was five star quality as was the service. The winelist will keep me from returning. The least expensive bottle of red was $90 and went up fast from there. And it was not a long list. Most offerings were in the several hundred dollars Whites were the same pattern. Absurd
