"Not your typical burger joint" , this "iconic" California-born chain is "loved" for its "high-quality" "customizable" hamburgers (insiders ask for them "animal style" ) paired with "tasty" fresh-cut fries and shakes; despite a "lightning-fast" counter, there are usually "long waits" , but "cheap" tabs and "friendly, Disney-esque" service keep regulars returning.

In-N-Out is sort of a California staple, and lots of Californians swear by In-N-Out as the best fast food, some declaring it isn't even fast food. With this in mind, every In-N-Out I have ever been to has been absolutely packed with people. This location is the most packed I've ever seen, and it's been that way every time I've come by. With that in mind, don't expect to be able to sit down with your food. Do expect to wait 10+ minutes for your fast food. What do you get for your wait? You get a pretty good burger (worth the price in my opinion), pretty good fries (they tend to make their fries crispy here, which you may or may not like), and a drink. I personally like the vanilla shake, but if I drink that, I feel like I have to eat one less meal the rest of the day. I think it's worth the price and the wait. I don't think it lives up to the hype, but I'd still go there again next time I visit San Francisco.

As per tradition, most tourists must go to In-N-Out while in California (or some other state that has them). Because I was a tourist, I, well, had to go because my family believes in the cliché. Anyway, when I walked inside, the place was PACKED! I'm not exaggerating. There's a sign in there that says that there's apparently a maximum 63 capacity, but based on what I saw, there were way more. I had a hard time getting a table, so some of us had to stand. Plus, some of the tables looked dirty. There goes a star. I got a plain double double with cheese and a side of fries. Here in Canada, a double double is a coffee, not a burger. The burger itself was really hot and was very tasty. It had a nice flavour with a perfect amount of cheese. The fries were also piping hot. They were good, but not as good as McDonald's fries. If you're a tourist, check it out. It's a very California thing. If you're a local, go somewhere else unless you really want to go here.

In-n-out, the quintessential California burger experience. Small place usually always packed lines go decently fast. Sometimes hard to grab a seat, but if you're willing to sit with strangers it's a good time. Great burgers will always reccomend!
