“Rich” , “category-defining” ramen and “incredible” pork buns make for “insanely packed” conditions (and “ridiculously long waits” ) at these Japanese joints; digs are “more spacious” in Midtown, while the Village original is “darker” with “interesting” Asian-inspired decor, but expect a “warm” , “shouted” greeting at both.

Yes, the food is good and the atmosphere is nice. The staff here, however, is pretty rude and does not accommodate. It is usual for places in Manhattan to not seat until your party is complete, but these people have an attitude about it. A couple of weeks ago a friend stopped by our table to say hello, and our waiter tried to have them leave even though they weren't ordering. Good ramen, but wouldn't personally pick if given the option.

Nice secluded area. Good vibe and amusing seeing non-Japanese (and there were lot of 'em) greeting with a irashaimase! Food was great and so was the service. Wait was long and the maitr d' gave a good estimate of the wait, but the food was worth it.

Great place for ramen. We were sat and served quickly. The food was great.
