The Zagat Review
“Elegant takes” on African cuisine inspire “even the not-so-adventurous” to “trek” to this “fine-dining experience” in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, where an “excellent” staff tends a “lovely” , safari-themed setting complete with a simulated sunset; also favored by those hunting “outstanding” South African wines, it’s “costly” but “a real destination.”

The food and atmosphere was truly amazing, best meal I’ve ever had. Our waitress, Jessica, was very attentive and friendly. Our water glasses were never empty and we never had a question go unanswered. It is on the pricy side but that makes it perfect for those special occasions.

My wife and I came here on our honeymoon, yes a bit corny I know, but we love Disney. This restaurant was the best place we ate the whole trip, and we ate at 5 different fine dining restaurant while we were there. Their preparation is near perfect and the menu is unlike anything else in the area. The staff were wonderful and made the evening special for the two of us, doing little things they didn't have to (even beyond what Disney park protocol is for romantic celebrations). I cannot emphasize enough how much we both enjoyed this place. When we return, it will be a meal we look forward to.

This place was amazing the first time we went there, so we canceled another dinner reservation just to come here a second time. Unfortunately the second time wasn't half as good as the first time. We tried a few new things, but I took the same entree. The first server had suggested taking the filet mignon, as it would still be tasty even if it needs to be well done (I'm pregnant, the only reason I couldn't have it medium rare). The first time it was amazing, well done but still juicy and so tasty. The second time it was hard and very dry, no comparison at all, so I asked the waitress if it's the right kind of meat, or why it's so different. They made me a new one, which arrived like 10-15 min later, when everybody else was basically done with their meals. This one was as good as I was hoping for. Why not get it right the first time around? Usually I'd say don't go back to a place you really like you'll only be disappointed, but at their price range this really shouldn't happen. In addition the waitress poured my soup over the little ice cream pieces before bringing a spoon, I had to ask her for a spoon. The same goes for a steak knife and a fork for my husband. I would still recommend this place, but it might not always be a five star place...
