Hidden spot for Japanese food & drink
Japanese · Fort Greene · $$$
Hidden behind a door at Walter’s in Fort Greene, this elegant Japanese izakaya serves eclectic contemporary bites to go with sake, whiskey and beautifully presented cocktails. The setting is dark and softly lit, with vinyl records adding to the speakeasy mood.

If you're looking for a great date place or a place to be totally incognito, this is it! Small Japanese speakeasy located behind one of my local favorites, Walter's. Sublime cocktails and nice small bites. The large plate menu is limited but well done. They also have a reasonable happy hour till 7. Usually a couple of drink special and 2 light snacks.

Get the steak! We went on a Friday night and swooned over the fried chicken, the pickles, and the steak. The cocktails and happy hour treats were also worth ordering. There are few Brooklyn dinners better than eating Japanese steak with ponzu in a restaurant behind a restaurant (Walter’s), with Ethiopian jazz playing and great drinks.

The food is nice but a little bit pricey. The phenomenon is good for a laid back dinner. It's better to make a reservation but you have to go. They are not friendly with the cancellation and will charge extra fee.
