The “granddaddy of all NYC steakhouses” , this circa-1885 Midtown “temple to meat” remains “rock solid” , with “sinful” “Flintstones-size” mutton chops and other “succulent” slabs of beef in “masculine” “museum” -like surrounds with “lines upon lines” of antique pipes on the ceiling; it’s “not for the weak of wallet” , but “welcoming” service and an “endless” scotch selection are other reasons you “won't regret splurging.”

Only if I can give higher score, I would do it 100%. Everything was perfect. Service amazing, food amazing, ...etc. When we went in, person from front desk immediately greeted us and led to our table very soon. We went there at around 1pm and they gave us a table for 4 to 2 of us. Server was great. Now the food. First, their butter for bread was very tasty. Second, the steak we ordered was very tasty as well. Crunchy outside and soft inside. The meat juice was amazing and it almost flowed out of my mouth as I chewed my pieces. 8oz and salad is enough for 2 females. We also ordered salad. Even the salad was great. Vegetables were fresh, tasty goat cheese, and sauce was great as well. The steak and salad combo worked out amazing. Honestly, just go. No need to hesitate. Worth the price for sure (steak+salad+drink was about 85 not including tips).

The food here is amazing. We did not have reservations, which I would suggest doing, and waited an hour to get a seat. A plate will coat anywhere from 50$ and up but well worth it. We had the Sole, NY Sirloin, and Mutton all were excellent! We also saved room for desert as we hadn't done any while in NY and they were also fantastic! I would recommend this place and go again.

This place is an institution of beef. The mutton chops are some of the most unreal cuts of an animal that are fit for human consumption. The service is impeccable. There is no shortage of food here, all portions are perfect for people to share. The coffee cantata is also a wonderful and balanced dessert that will not over power the rest of the meal. GO HERE NOW!
