“Straight-up delicioso” describes both the food and the scene at this ever- “trendy” SoHo Mexican comprising a “dive” -like taqueria, casual indoor/outdoor cafe and “ultracool” , hard-to-access underground grotto; the Williamsburg spin-off set in a “futuristic retro diner” comes equipped with a moody back room and “huge outdoor patio.”

This has to be my favourite place in New York. The entrance to this place is just brilliant!! (But I don’t want to spoil it for you). The restaurant is very tight but that adds to the atmosphere and you can see why. It’s so incredibly busy. The food is exceptional and we couldn’t get enough of it. The DJ after was great playing a good selection of current music and created a great vibe. Can’t wait to come here again.

Bad service. We had a reservation and we were running 15 minutes late, we called the place and they replayed “no problem” which we understood we still have our table on arrival. When we arrived they informed us we need to wait another 45 minutes to get the table. Well, I got it that we were 15 min late but we got a “no problem” that for my assumption doesn’t mean u wait another 45 min... anyway, staff was not friendly whatever is our understanding.

The upstairs serves really good take-out. We also ate in the downstairs restaurant, which was a different experience altogether. The ambiance was great and food was really good (not spectacular). The main problem was the volume of the music! My wife and I got so tired of yelling at each other to attempt conversation, we eventually just sat back and stared at each other for the remainder of the meal. I would have mentioned something to the waitress, but we honestly didn't see her until after our meal was done. -not that she could have heard what I was saying anyway.
