It's "kind of a dive (which is kind of the point)" say longtime fans of this "old-school" Mid-City "favorite" dishing up Italian eats "with a Cajun flair" to a mostly local crowd; "frugal" folks like the prices, and the "entertaining" staff will make you "feel like family" , so relax and "have a giant frozen glass of beer or two."

This is a good place to try some popular New Orleans dishes, like gumbo. The restaurant has an interesting and pleasant decoration and I saw no tourists, only locals! The waitress was very friendly and answered all my questions in a good mood.

Food and service were decent enough. The food was pretty decent as well. The gumbo was delicious, perfect flavor. The poboys were on bread that had the thickest, hardest crust ever and the shrimp were just okay. The hamburger steak was good, lots of thick brown gravy...However, the restrooms are totally disgusting and whatever you do, don't look in the kitchen. Honestly, after seeing the kitchen, I can't believe we even ate there. It was pretty bad. I've seen Taco Bells with cleaner kitchens. Bleh. Probably won't go back. The dark, dingy, dirty looking kitchen was enough to make me not want to go back.
