Chef Ron Siegel (Rancho Nicasio, Michael Mina, Masa) locates his first solo restaurant in downtown San Anselmo, putting a Japanese spin on local, seasonal produce and seafood served with wine, beer and sake-based cocktails. There’s a chef’s tasting menu, too, offered in an intimate, urban-chic interior with rustic hardwoods, a marble-topped bar, velvet banquettes and custom, earth-toned serving dishes.

Went on Valentines day and the set menu is great. Especially love the puree on each of the dish. Portion is good and wouldn't make you feel too full after many courses. Staff are very friendly. The only thing I would comment is the strawberry sponge cake for dessert seems too ordinary in the set menu compare to other dishes, but it is also delicious. Also, I find the cense of the restaurant is a bit too strong when I enter. I would prefer something smell more subtle and light in a restaurant so you can focus on the food.

Chef and owner Ron Siegel is a culinary master who has proved himself to be one of the best time and time again. Madcap delivers with an intimate setting, a great wine list, and locally sourced food that will be sure to please all of the senses. The tasting menu is a must. Would highly recommend!

Superb, go! This wait staff should train every server on the planet! Exemplary! And now I've eaten Sea Urchin Panna Cotta w crispy bits of Mackerel (nice Jewish girl from Brooklyn, who knew?) and the Lobster Miso shot was an OMG! Do the 8 Course Tasting Menu, just enjoy the Chef's brilliance! Got to change utensil type 3 times, that's just fun! I'll say it again, superb!
