“High quality” and “low frills” mark this West Village sibling to Malatesta, where the “delizioso” Italian “country cuisine” (read pizza and pasta) draws a “hopping” crowd; seating is ultra- “cozy” , but “the prices are right.”

Cozy little Italian joint. Terrific wine. Fair prices. Understated, comfortable atmosphere. Lasagna was to-die-for. Great service. If the question is: What's a casual little Italian place near the Whit? The answer is Malaparte.

Malaparte was exactly what we were looking for: a cosy and welcoming spot on a cold night. We had calamari, Buffalo mozzarella salad, and pasta. Everything was delicious and that was the perfect amount for two. Prices were reasonable. We'll definitely go back next time and try the pizza!

Huge fan of this place. Food is very good, the staff is amazing (mostly same guys since they opened), and prices are great (compared to other nyc restaurants), but only accepts cash. Location is also incredible, feels like a neighborhood/locals restaurant. Tables outside are great, especially during the spring/summer. Will definitely come back for the pizzas/pasta.
