The “quintessential neighborhood restaurant” , these family-owned "staples” “cater to locals” with “very traditional preparations” of “outstanding” Creole and "down-home comfort food” served in “large portions” ; “professional” servers (and “generous pours on beverages at the bar” ) ensure visitors to the “unpretentious” digs “feel good when [they] walk in” and leave “happy.”

Wow, talk about some great food in a foodie town. The seafood platter was so big, it could serve a table of 4. This place is so historic that they advertise "air conditioning". Service was pleasant - there when we needed him - invisible when we did not. The pecan cheesecake was stupid good. It is not a question of when if I will return, but when.

Perhaps my favorite New Orleans restaurant, one with a glorious history and a bright future, even though the menu barely changes. Neighborhood Italian and seafood, prepared flawlessly. Best turtle soup and shrimp remoulade in the city. Engaging wait staff. Great place to people watch. What more can you ask?

Tip: self seating and huge parking lot The gumbo was very very good, smokey and delicious. The fried oyster and catfish were perfectly fried, juicy and crispy until the last bite. The drum was the nightly special, stuffed and delicious. The service was quick and wonderful even though we were one of the last to leave.
