"Exquisite" , "high-end" Catalan small plates, "excellent wines" and an atmosphere full of "buzz" evoke "memories of Barcelona" at this "festive and fun" Spanish spot in the South Loop’s Blackstone Hotel; a "beautiful" , "striking" space with an open kitchen and windows "overlooking Grant Park" cements its status as a "must."

I loved Mercat a la Planxa! Its really nice Spanish tapas and actually from Spain (I know that seems normal for that but a lot of restaurants have Latin America food)! I would highly recommend the tasting menu, its really good! The staff here were super accommodating and we even got to meet the chef! Overall, I wish we had more days in Chicago so we could come again!

Wonderful retro surroundings. Every dish had amazing presentation. Portions seemed small, but it is tapas after all, so drinks and dinner for two was about right at $100. They were not that busy the Tuesday we visited, but the bar tender was slow. The waiter became more attentive after I complained about a protracted wait for a simple glass of wine. I would go again to give them a second chance.

Best pizza taste ever! May take long, but totally worth it. They give you the option to order your food while you are waiting, which could save you about half an hour if you are in a rush. Very friendly and helpful staff, plus a warm and enjoyable environment. The suggested servings are real BTW! If it's your first time, do not miss the classic and Lou deep dish.
