Matier is a Michelin rated restaurant, as is it's companion restaurant, Kinship. Both restaurants are beautifully appointed. The atmosphere in the lower level (Metier) is intimate and has a prix fix menu. In many respects just entering the rooms in Metier feels much like being a special guest in a most exclusive club, or perhaps a high society but not snooty dinner party. Relax in one of the front rooms soft, inviting chairs with a friend and sip a special cocktail. From old master style paintings on the walls to the soft elegantly designed lighting make guests feel like they are truly valued and at home. The kitchen is a well oiled machine, quietly turning out masterful and inspirational delights. This is the kind of restaurant where the name Chef is used in reverence, and those lucky enough to apprentice under him and his capable staff probably feel honored to have this establishment on their resume. If you've read my reviews here you'll know that I hold customer service as a top priority; when you walk into Kinship and downstairs to Metier you too will ask: Why aren't more establishments run with this kind of care. Truly a pleasure, one of DC's finest experiences await you at Metier. Plan on being blown away!!

Creative dishes with highly distinguished character. Dinner here is more than a meal, its a quality dining experience. $200 PP for dinner... Worth every penny.

We love Metier! Because of the price, a lot of people only go for special occasions but we find the quality of food, service, and atmosphere so excellent that we try to go as much as we can, budget allowing.
