Mr. Panzerotto
Counter serve for Italian street food
Fast Food · Greenwich Village · $
Don’t call it a calzone: Originating from the Puglia region, the panzerotto is a street-style pocket filled with mozzarella and tomato sauce, among other combos (like sweet sausage and broccoli rabe or smoked chicken with pesto) and served in a paper cone. This tiled Greenwich Village shop also offers a few sweet varieties, including Nutella with ricotta.

A tasty snack with several vegetarian options available, and nicely priced. You can buy extra sauces, which come in small containers that are unfortunately very hard to pour onto your snack.

This Italian fried dough goodness, overflowing with melted cheese and fresh tomato sauce, definitely won a place in my heart and stomach. They don't have a very wide selection of fillings, but meat lovers, seafoodies, vegetarians and vegans will all find panzerottos to satisfy their taste buds.
