That "old San Francisco feel" "cute" , "quaint" and "great for a date" – sets the tone at this "neighborhood" Italian "favorite" , where the "consistent menu" highlights "terrific pastas" ; the no-reservations policy and "reasonable prices" mean there's often a "wait" , but the "friendly" atmosphere makes it "worth the hike to the top of Nob Hill."

There is always a line - make sure to stop in early, put your name down, walk around Nob Hill, then come back. I live right next to this restaurant and am glad I finally gave into the hype to see what was going on. It's super small, so if you are claustrophobic, you may want to think twice. We were seated after an hour (put my name down first) and bread/water was brought quickly. They've got a lot of great wines to kick off the dinner, but I decided to get a beer. I tried one of the Penne pastas + chicken meat, and was impressed. It was very delicious and prices were reasonable. I'd gladly eat here again when craving Italian.

Great upscale casual dining experience. They don't accept reservations and all members of your party need to be present to be seated at a table so that there is no wasted tables. Great pasta and salads. You can ask for a bottle of wine and drink it while you wait for three rest of your party. Hostess very much on to of keeping the dining rooms running efficiently.

My favorite Italian spot in the city. Pasta is always fresh and just has the right amount of firmness. I've had numerous dishes here and they never disappoint. Their sauces are so dang good. There's a reason why the line is always out the door... and it's worth the wait. I would avoid big parties here as they don't take reservations and the restaurant is a bit small. Either avoid busy times or order take out. Two bathrooms. Avoid going to the one next to the kitchen as it is just about the smallest restroom I've ever seen!
