“Old boys’ club” decor (antique paintings, a gleaming bar, “funky-yet-charming” taxidermy) is part of the appeal of this “fantastic” , circa-1856 American near the White House, a “classic frequented by tourists and residents” alike; known for its “beautiful” Victorian rooms and “outstanding oyster selection” , it’s “always crowded” , but the “attentive waiters” and “great atmosphere” make this one a “grand favorite.”

Old Ebbitt is a swanky restaurant with top of the line east coast food and drink that you can wear a suit or jeans to. It's a hot spot for locals and tourists alike. Their seafood options are the best (clams especially). Their earth meats are always done to perfection with great taste. However, some of the food lacks spice, but you can always add salt and pepper to make it even more to your liking. I personally recommend you try the Pork Belly Sliders as a starter and the Pork Chop as the main. It's my favorite because it reminds me of my southern roots; 90% fat sliders with beet and a pork chop with sweet potatoes and collard greens. There's something for everyone; date, party, or business dinner. Old Ebbitt is pricey but worth it.

Ate here twice while visiting DC and both times were good. This is a large restaurant that is very popular and busy. Because of the number of tables the wait is rarely very long. This is a place where you could have a business lunch or dinner in a 3-piece suit, or bring the family on Saturday evening in jeans and a button up. The food is good, with a robust raw oyster bar and a couple of full bars. Waitstaff was relatively attentive and well dressed. Kind of expensive, but I'm used to Northeast prices so I'm bias.

One of the best oysters selection in the country!! I put my name in the list and went to walk around the White House to make time, but they called me faster than expected. It was happy hour so oysters were half a price and I ate more than 30 oysters of 6 different types! Delicious all of them! Crab cakes are amazing too!
