"Impress the lady, impress your palate" suggest fans of this "dark and private" Nob Hill steakhouse where "formal art deco" decor enhances a "romantic" vibe; add in "cooked-to-perfection" filet mignon, "fresh and well-presented" seafood and an "impressive" wine list for a "memorable experience" considered "expensive but worth it."

Delicious food! We shared the crab cake and won ton appetizers. I highly recommend the crab cakes! We had the petite filet and had crab entrees and again both were delicious. The waiter was super personable and attentive. The restaurant is very clean and upscale. We had a wonderful experience and already planned our next dinner there.

The waiter threw a candle at my date, accidentally however still unacceptable. The restaurant is highly overpriced for the quality. My steak didn't have good seasoning. The steak was not to temp, even though I ordered it chef's recommendation, which was a standard medium rare. Service is haphazard at best. Atmosphere is merely okay. Nothing worth making a visit to this mess of a restaurant. SF has much better steakhouses for less money. To be avoided at all costs.

I'll start with the negative: the place is so fancy, I felt too embarrassed to ask for ketchup to go with my otherwise delicious crispy roasted potatoes. So I took off a star (in my mind.) But the terrific service and wonderful ambiance, (plus a New York strip that might've been the best ever) made me quickly add it back, because if this isn't a 5 star steakhouse, I don't know what is.
