Charming spot for rustic Italian cuisine
Italian · NoLita · $$$
The Zagat Review
From the “warm” , rustic setting to the “fabulous” , wood-fired cuisine, this “unforgettable” Italian “outshines” many of its NoLita neighbors; “romantic” types on a “dinner date” finish up the meal in the “civilized” cellar wine bar for after-dinner drinks.

almost like an escape from the city. the oven and rotisserie in the back are the stars of the decor and environment. the food from the roast pig to the pasta is very solid. there are a couple of decent wines you can get by the glass. service is pleasant and unobtrusive.

Honestly can’t give it below 4 star just because the food is so. damn. good. I had the wild boar ragu a few weeks ago at a client dinner and it was amazing, truly a special dish. The only thing I have to complain about is the host staff, the time I ate there the hostess was a lady with short black hair and it seemed the high horse couldn’t be higher for her. Interrupting a conversation after we’ve finished our meal is not okay, the restaurant wasn’t even that busy and it was rude. I had another interaction with a hostess there (I presume it was the same one however the second time was on the phone so I can’t say for sure) basically it’s a great restaurant with a sour host staff who need to be trained in hospitality and drop the condescending holier than thou attitude. Just a thought!

If I could give more stars I would. My favorite restaurant. We go for every special and not so special occasion. The rabbit lasagna is a must for first timer, but you can't go wrong. I would go just for the pre dinner bread.
