FiDi folks like this "terrific" American with a Cal-French accent for "business lunches" in a two-story space whose "fascinating" decor nods to the Gold Rush era; while it's a "busy" scene at "prime time" , some find the "service is best at the bar" , where "amazing" drinks keep it humming after work.

Fantastic food, drinks, ambience and service. I have gone here multiple times with work friends and Per Diem has yet to disappoint. I especially like the architecture of the place. Old school beer tap, the wooden chandelier, the cozy upstairs dining area with the hidden outdoor patio is something you don't find in many financial district restaurants. I ordered the steak and lobster and it was one of the best dinners in recent memory. I will keep coming back to this great place.

This place is a hidden gem. I was on my way somewhere else and I walked by. You can't really see inside but I saw some good looking people walking in so I took a peek inside. This place was rocking on a Thursday at 4:45 PM. The restaurant and bar was full of 30 something professionals having drinks, work meetings and a good time. I had time to kill and I felt very comfortable sitting at the bar by myself. Just a really really cool vibe. The happy hour wine was great - a Pinot. Mussels were very good, avocado toast and lobster fries (yup) looked phenomenal. Friendly bartenders. Seemed like quite a few locals - love this place.

Nice Cocktail menu. Good service and food. Cool decor. Food was a little overpriced but it is SF so to be expected. Example lunch appetizer( $18 for four small meatballs). Chicken sandwich was great.
