Peter Luger Steak House
Celebrated Brooklyn chophouse since 1887
Steakhouse · Williamsburg · $$$$
The Zagat Review
“Still the one and only” , this circa-1887 Williamsburg “monument to meat” sets the bar with its “buttery” house-aged beef ( “they define porterhouse” ) served by “cantankerous” career waiters in a “busy” “old-time” German beer hall setting; the “rough-and-tumble” style “only adds to the charm” , but prices are “stiff” and they don’t take plastic, so come with “a lot of cash.”

Last time I came here was in 2014 but I'm back in 2018 as I couldn't really remember my experience from back in 2014. As usual since this is a popular place, you need to make reservations ahead of time if you want to dine here on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. I came here on a Friday night and it was packed with people. The environment in the restaurant is fancy with a high end design. The staff here are wonderful, they treated us with respect and was readily available once we needed something or asked for something. I was a bit disappointed by the steak though; it's not worth its price. Don't get me wrong, the steak was absolutely delicious but there are other restaurants who does steak better. I also had the lamb chops here which were pretty good; they weren't unique by any means but did have a little gaminess flavor to it. Lamb chops were still delicious. Overall, I most likely wouldn't come back here (maybe in another five years), but do recommend this place for those who are curious.

The waiter was so professional and courteous! The bacon appetizer was the best bacon I have even eaten! My main course was lamb chops, potatoes and creamed spinach which was delicious!! My dessert was so good you have to go there to experience it... I had “Apple Strudel” and it comes with a mountain of whipped cream on the side!!!! I tried my partner’s steak and it was delicious! Quality service, nice ambiance and great food!!

Historic and world renowned. Food just short of very good...bountiful, prepared as ordered, and served professionally. On the down side...reservations take time, when you arrive expect to wait. Noise level is high. All factors considered an experience worthwhile. $$$$
