Service

“Naps are required” after visiting this “popular” Williamsburg storefront for “perfectly fried” chicken, “fantastic” homemade pies and other Southern “comfort food” ; the “down-and-dirty” digs are “a tight squeeze” and “service can lag” , so be ready for a “long wait on weekends.”

Really not a fan. Sure, the condiments are traditional, but if ever you’ve lived in the south, you’ll know the food itself is not traditional southern food. The sweet tea is lightly fermented. This was not expected and NOT what I was looking for. The pulled pork is barely pulled and oddly flavored. The Mac and cheese was even disappointing. It’s a great hipster spot... but if that’s what you’re going for, be goddamn honest. This is NOT traditional southern food.

This is my favorite chicken and waffles spot by far! Their chicken is just so dang good! Drown the chicken in a bit of hot sauce and enjoy! Prices are also great, $13.50 vs Sweet Chick's $17 plate. Portions are also very filling and the jam they add onto the waffles is really good! The staff is very attentive and friendly. I return weekly, that's how good it is :).

Pretty decent food. Wouldn't say it was the best fried chicken and waffles I've ever had. The chicken was relatively dry and the steak was far from medium rare but the fried part outside was good. The grits that come with the fried steak ate good too. I believe this place is over hyped and props to the attentive wait staff who got us seated quickly. They have additional seating in the back.
