At this Bernal Heights "neighborhood jewel" , chef Carlos Altamirano creates "amazing ceviche" and other "beautifully presented" Peruvian dishes with a "modern flair" ; the setting can be "loud, crowded" and "hard to get into" , but fans find the atmosphere "sexy" and call the "knowledgeable" service a plus.

Great place for interesting tapas or full dinner. Short ribs were fantastic. Squid ink paella was delicious and I habe never seen that anywhere. Scallops were fantastic. Only problem was the Lloyd crowd in the small space in the back.

The service could be a bit more attentive but nothing tragic and they were very busy. We loved the food and will come back if we have a chance. Best: paella and some sort of corn meal appetizer. The desserts, and we tried almost all of them, were amazing.

I will keep coming back for delicious Peruvian food. I usually get the aji de gallina (chicken) but tried the adobo (pork) the last time which was very tasty and tender. Will be back!
