There's "no fancy-schmancy stuff" at this "longtime" Westside "tradition" – just "consistent" , "affordable" Mexican staples washed down with "killer" margaritas; even if the "basic" decor could use an "update" , most maintain it's "worth the wait in line" , especially if you factor in the "efficient" service.

Great food! Great Margaritas! (The best in town). My husband has been eating here since he was 7 years old with his dad. He brought me here when we met 20 years ago & it has been a favorite of ours since then. Great atmosphere, great food, good prices, kid friendly. What else do you need for a great restaurant!!

My favorite Mexican in Kansas City! Their margaritas are potent but phenomenal! My favorite is 2 cheese & onion enchiladas with an over easy egg on top and ground beef on the side. They have white queso which is the best I've had (and I lived in Texas for 10 years). Their guacamole is amazing as well. They don't put lettuce in the bottom like other restaurants, which I hate! I REALLY wish they took reservations, but they haven't for so long that I'm sure they won't change. Only thing I would suggest is to open another location because It's so amazing. Or expand. Love me some Ponak's!! It's my family's favorite spot. :)

I had a great experience. The food was excellent and the wait staff was friendly. I arrived early and got a table right away, but it was busy by the time I left. So glad I finally got to try this place. So worth it.
