Global street food in a stylish setting
Small Plates · West Loop · $$
A sequel to sibling Sepia, this stylish West Loop spot serves upscale takes on international street food (much of it wood-roasted or grilled) alongside equally globe-trotting cocktails plus a limited late menu for night owls. The casually swank space has a modern brasserie vibe, with a dining room and lounge divided by a central bar, while a chef’s table overlooks the kitchen.

All the food is an excellent fusion of different flavors and food types. It is almost all small plates which is great for sharing and talking. The decor of the place is a very modern and industrial look while also retaining an organic feel.

Would have been 5 stars if we didn't have to wait 45 minutes to be seated with a reservation. Food was delicious and service was great once we were at the table. However, some wires must have gotten crossed to wait that long after the reservation time. Will probably go back with a group once they change the menu to experience something different.

I had been to Proxi once in the past and had an overall good experience . Good service, some good dishes in a poorly designed layout. However, a friend wanted to give it a try so we made a reservation tonight. Our experience tonight was HORRENDOUS, we showed up right on time for our reservation and were told to wait 5 min as our table is being set up. We proceed to the bar and 20 minutes later, we are still waiting. We check with the host who tell us “we are getting your table ready now”. 10 minutes later, we decided to leave and go elsewhere. Despite the fact that the hostesses were classless, rude, and clearly INCOMPETENT, we kindly let them know we were headed elsewhere. The on-duty manager followed us outside and was kind enough to ask what had gone wrong which we have explained to him. We understand restaurants can get busy, people drag their dinners longer than expected, but for a bunch of useless hosts to stand there and tell us they have been setting the table for 40 min is flat out absurd! I will certainly never give this place another go and highly suggest anyone to think twice about it unless you are ok waiting at the bar for an hour before being seated. Skip this overrated / disorganized “wanna be cool” Restaurant and walk over to the true Chicago gems down the street, Avec or Blackbird.
