It's "the real deal" say fans of the country's oldest family-owned Italian restaurant, quartered in a Bella Vista row house where peeks into the kitchen verify that "it's Mama Dispigno" dishing out "red-sauce" fare in portions "the size of Norway" ; given kinda "cramped" quarters with an "authentic 'take-the-cannoli' feel" and genuine "South Philly" staffers, it's like you've "stepped back in time" – though the crowd is strictly modern-day (from "romantic tables for two to good-size family gatherings" and "tourists" ).

What a great experience, from the moment we arrived everything was exceptional. The valet, very friendly and superior service. Lauren the hostess is a treasure, very personable excellent in every aspect of her job. Sitting near her in the front of the restaurant was very memorable as we talked throughout the entire meal. Excellent dinner recommendations from Lauren and wine selection from Mark. Felt like being at Sunday dinner with the family very comforting. Mark our waiter, was great, he knew when we just wanted to talk and when to be attentive to our needs. So nice to have people that really know their business and how to best service their customers. Ralph's will definitely be on our regular list of go to places.

They now take credit cards! Nice neighborhood gem. It is what you would expect from a Philly Italian restaurant. Good size portions and good food. I think it gets a lot of hype due to it's age but it is tasty. The canoli cake was fantastic! If you want better Italian food, you can probably find it elsewhere in the city but the food together with the ambiance is what makes this place what it is.

This is the real deal old school family owned Italian Restaurant. Prices are great and the service is good not fussy! Not fancy but still well worth the visit.
