Roka Akor | San Francisco
Flashy Japanese hub with modern decor
Japanese · Downtown · $$$$
The Zagat Review
"Sleek is the word" at this "upscale" branch of a global Japanese chain, where a "fabulous" space in Downtown’s Jackson Square sets the scene for "expertly grilled" robata fare, including "high-quality" steaks, plus "awesome" sushi; the lower-level lounge is a "winner" known for its "happy-hour specials" , while the big-ticket dining room is "perfect for a business dinner."

Upstairs for lunch is sunny, spacious and all Japanese clean lines. Downstairs is dim, seductive with a '70s-meets-today aesthetic.

Wow amazing food...the beef dumplings are the best...unique since dumplings are usually pork or shrimp...the sushi was great high quality ingredients...the best California roll ever! But the desert the warm chocolate with ice cream was to die for! Really recommend this restaurant it's worth the price. Didn't try the meat but can only imagine how good it must be. Finally one of the best service I have seen... food immediately removed when done from the table the waiter attentive to every last detail. Will definitely try this at other locations.

The food and service was superb. Erik and Tina took really great care of us. The chefs are artists as well as chefs. They have some great vegetable dishes as well the lamb was amazing. Perfectly cooked. The sake and wine was very good. It is best to make a reservation as it is very popular. The restrooms are spotlessly clean. The restaurant manager Lelani is one of the most conscientious people in the world. Committed to excellent service. The sushi is of the highest quality.

A good place to eat sushi! Honestly, my first Telltale sign of a sushi restaurant is if I smell fish. If my Sushi smells fishy then I think it's old and I won't eat it. This place had fresh sushi and the ambience was quite nice as well!
