Room 39
Minimalist setting for New American eats

The Zagat Review
Fans applaud the "craftsmanship" at these "offbeat" New American bistros where the "imaginative" , locally sourced menu "never feels contrived" ; service is "perfectly attentive" , so "who cares about minimalist decor" at the Midtown original (the Mission Farms outpost – where "Johnson County ladies lunch" – is a "dressed-up version" ); P.S. there's breakfast Monday–Saturday at 39th Street and a "killer" weekend brunch at Mission Farms.

I was super excited to try this little coffee shop out. And to my satisfaction it turned out to be way better than I expected. The staff was super friendly and edgy, the whole room had flair and spunk. Perfect little coffee shop vibe along with some amazing waffles and potato's, I also had a Carmel latte and man it was the best coffee I've ever had. They source everything locally, one of the reasons I chose it in the first place.

Menu is creative. Place is popular. Service is good and friendly. Hipster / artsy / ecclectic vibe. Food has been very good! Worth a visit. One dish has potential but fell short... French Toast... The bread is thick and this results in the French toast being served too dry... Too bad I'd go there more otherwise.

Do NOT let the pictures fool you, this place is not a casual dining restaurant. When my boyfriend and I went recently there weren’t even burgers or food of the ‘casual’ type there. I’m really confused looking through the pictures on here because it was a candlelit, white table cloth, FINE dining dinner which is the opposite of what the pictures show. EVERYTHING on the menu was $30-40 bucks a piece and we spent $96 on two people with only one alcoholic beverage. Maybe we went there on a special night or something? But it was really intimidating because we just wanted some delicious southern comfort food (as advertised in the pictures and categorized) and instead walked into a fancy ass place. Don’t get me wrong, the food was amazing and the service was OK, but unless you’re going for a special occasion or something, I’d call ahead or be prepared to spend more around $$$ than $$. Just throwing this info out there so others aren’t caught by surprise too.
