This “excellent” American cafe mini-chain has nailed a “winning formula” : “gigantic portions” of “rich, NOLA-type breakfast foods” , “bottomless coffee” and “killer” cocktails all served in a homey setting; it’s no wonder there are sometimes “waits” for the “moderately priced” eats – fortunately, “quick” , “conscientious” servers ease the pain, and help make it “the place to go for breakfast after a night out.”

If you are looking for someplace to eat with high quality breakfast food, that is not in the very busy and very expensive French Quarter part of New Orleans. This is the place to go. They have the standard breakfast fare, but they also have some very different versions of French Toast, that will blow you away. Sorry, I didn't take any photos, I just ate the food. It is near the Garden District. They have other locations, but it seemed easiest to find parking at this one.

This was our second visit to a Ruby Slipper (first one on Magazine downtown) and both were five star events. So much, so good, so many calories to deal with. Bananas Foster Pan Perdu and candied bacon. Unhealthy as could be but what a way to go! If they opened in Maryland they'd make a killing and I'd weigh 400 lbs. Coffee, juices and service were also great!

Just had breakfast here today and had the worst server and service I’ve experienced in a long time. Our waiter guy barely greeted us, did not describe the menu or offer recommendations for us first-timers to the Ruby Red Slipper - he did not talk to us really at all. When we ordered I was confused by a part of the menu and the waiter did not clairify it and instead screwed me over and charged me way more than I was originally thinking. My breakfast cost $22 which is absolutely absurd. My friend just wanted a simple bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and the waiter seemed super annoyed by the request. He also brought her out the wrong order in the end with the wrong cheese and wrong toppings. And charged her for the more expensive option that she didn’t want! Plus when I asked if the hot coffee included free refills the waiter mumbled the answer and then never asked if we wanted refills and never brought around the pot. We then had to get up and go find another waiter to refill our cup of coffee. So ridiculous. Our waiter never asked how our food was and never checked in with us throughout the entire experience. The food was good - thank goodness for what we had to just go through. But not $22 good. Will not ever be returning.
