A "popular" "late-night" scene, this Nob Hill "basement sushi bar" turns out "fresh" , "well-executed" fish touted for "great quality at the right price" ; it’s an "energetic" , "divey" setting for "after-clubbing munchies" (served till 1:30 AM), complete with a "DJ in the corner" some nights.

My favorite neighborhood sushi joint. Very unassuming/easy to miss from the street, just a modest awning at the corner of Taylor and Cosmo. But when you walk in, you're immediately (and heartily) greeted in Japanese by the chefs and staff. The fish is so fresh and there are always good specials. I'm not usually a big rolls guy, but there are some great ones. Definitely a spot to check out if you're in the area.

It was late, I had missed dinner, I was in the neighborhood. I eat a lot of Japanese food as comfort food - Ryoko's knows what they're doing with the traditional items and isn't afraid of putting a twist on some others. Fast, friendly, upbeat vibe. You won't waste your time here.

Food was decent, but the liveliness makes it a five star. The food is relatively good for it's price, but don't come here if you're looking for a fancy Japanese meal. It's more of an izakaya vibe with small dishes and rolls and alcohol. Would definitely come back for a chill night to just drink and chat with friends.
