Step down a "nondescript flight of stairs" and "into Tokyo" at this East Village sake bar, where "elbow-to-elbow" customers choose from a "vast selection" of labels supplemented by "unique" small plates; regulars feel it's "like something out of Blade Runner" , with its "dark lighting" and "graffiti'd walls."

Hands-down just a damn cool place to go. Accessible, yet the underground location adds allure and mysterious vibes perfect for dates or small get-togethers with friends. Open your mind to their extensive sake selection, and please take advice from the experienced staff. It’s worth it to branch out! Lovely small plates to share, and killer ambience. It’s shabby chic meets romantic grunge. I wouldn’t recommend you go in large groups, keep it small for this spot. Embrace the intimacy!

Mix between speakeasy and local hangout feel. First sake bar in NYC so seems to be well known. Less funky and more gritty than it used to be I was told by another customer. It works for friends, but not a fancy date. Great sake selection and informative menu. Food looked good, but I came just for drinks. I would have preferred more interaction with staff as I came alone and seats next to me were empty. The most talking I got was a reminder to leave a tip when I paid. Music track was all over the place for the hour I was there. I guess they were trying to appeal to many genres, but I think something more consistent is less distracting. Will I go back? Yes, but after trying the other 20 or so sake bars in NYC.

A super cozy and artsy place with an amazing Sake selection. If you are going to have food there as well make sure to try the beef rice bowl! It's heavenly !
