“Craveable” udon soups, “crazy-good” dumplings and other “vibrant” Japanese classics are on offer at this Williamsburg "staple" ; "warm welcomes" , "good prices" and a “special” setting evoking an “inn outside of Tokyo" are other pluses.

A fun shared-table atmosphere and pleasant decor. Everything is extremely affordable for the high-quality food. You can easily spend under $15 on a very filling meal. I got one of the specials, an udon soup with chicken meatballs and it was delicious and only $11. Try the ginger margarita.

Shared a mid-week dinner at SM per a friend's recommendation and was blown away. The fish was so fresh/ clean tasting I fell in love with raw "meat without feet" again. I had the Yellow Jalapeño roll which is the most zestfully delicious a roll you'll ever taste. The staff was friendly and the community table was cozy yet still felt private. Parking was easy nearby and the neighborhood is excellent. Prices weren't too crazy and we (2 non drinkers) left there satiated for around $50. The movie theater is a block away making SM perfect for a night out. I'd recommend Samurai Mama to anyone with a severe case of the munchies looking for a chill spot to fumble chop sticks. Note to management: Please play background music. The young, artistic demographic in this area (many of whom are musicians) would be stoked. Regardless, it's a rad sushi joint that I'll frequent. See ya there:)

The food, service and decor are excellent. I had the veggie qyoza as an app and the mushroom avocado sushi that comes with a salad as my main meal. Both were great. My waitress picked up on the fact I was ordering veggie items and warned me that the soup is made with fish stock and offered an extra side salad which I accepted. I plan on bringing my daughter here for lunch.
