The Zagat Review
“A real Italian grotto” , this subterranean UES lair attracts well-heeled admirers who “rub elbows” over “superb” Capri-style cuisine served with a “personalized” touch; it’s bound to be “memorable” , but “beware of the specials” or they’ll “empty out your wallet.”

My family of 8 had dinner at this restaurant last evening, Nov. 12. We had just seen a matinee performance. Our dinner was fabulous. The problem was the abusive and violent conduct of one of the men that greeted my daughter upon her arrival. Apparently, he wasn't aware of the change in our reservation which was made the day before. We changed the number from 6 to 8. She arrived before us and when my daughter gave the name and number in our party, this man proceeded to angrily and abusively speak to her. When he noticed that she was telling me of the incident, he came to her and tried to intimidate her physically by offering his hand and insisting "they were friends." Never an apology from him or any of the men that witnessed this totally unacceptable behavior. At the time, I didn't tell my husband of this due to the fact that there would have been extremely unpleasant ramifications. A young girl by herself in unfamiliar surroundings being violently harassed by an older man. It was horrendous and I will make sure I tell every person I know looking for an Italian restaurant in NYC of our experience.

GREAT food. Not cheap. One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to. Great service, unrushed. Tiny little place adds to the charm.

A small space underground. Tight quarters. Authentic Italian feel. The food was great. A neighborhood place that isn't cheap but worth the meal.
