When the "craving for seafood" hits, this longtime River North "classic" and its Schaumburg sequel "never fail to please" , offering a "broad" menu of "high-quality" choices including one of the "best oyster selections in the city" ; there's an "old-school" vibe whether you sit in the "cool" bar area or more "formal" dining room, and if a "food coma" is what you want, "be sure" to do the "fab" Sunday buffet brunch.

Great Food! And great options for dieting! We have been to this Shaw’s before but were in town and decided to try it again to see if it really was as good as we thought the last time. They held up to my standards of serving amazing food. I am also trying to do a Whole 30 program which is a long story. But I was able to stay pretty close to the diet. The stuffed flounder was my first time having it and it was delicious. I do not understand when they say stuffed tho because it is topped with the lobster and broiled it looks like. Not stuffed. So they may want to change that on the menu. The crab legs are always top notch here. I love how they already have them cut open and ready to go. The staff is great as well and they have great recommendations. I would definitely go again. But I think next time I will try there Sunday brunch since the waiter was telling me how amazing it is!!

Was very pleasantly surprised by their sushi rolls. Very good and very fresh. Went here restaurant week with another couple. So had a smattering of the menu, some off the restaurant week menu but most from the full. Food was overall pretty good. I had the surf and turf, I would never get res meat here again. The seafood was all excellent, the steak was just blah. Not horrible not the greatest. Tried a flight of different desserts. All excellent. If you like a good pecan pie like I do, they have one of the best in the city. 2 couples, bottle of wine, apps and dinner $480 total.

Shaw's has a unique highly regarded reputation of its own not in need of review. To share though, on my last visit, I took an out of town relative yearning for oysters to Shaw's Happy Hour Oyster bar. There were selections of oysters types available and the subtleties in flavor resounded from the bodies of water they came from. A similar experience to the rich tasting culture of wine and some spirits. Fantastic bar as well with specialty beverages, each expertly created or served for the finely tuned pallet.
