Superior Seafood & Oyster Bar
Seafood & Creole eats in an airy space

The Zagat Review
With decor reminiscent of a "shiny" "Parisian" brasserie and "large glass windows" overlooking St. Charles Avenue, this "huge, bustling" Uptown sibling of Superior Grill offers a "beautifully appointed" setting for slurping raw oysters ( "sit by the shuckers" at the bar) and savoring "authentic" , seafood-centric Creole fare; "noisy" and "fun" , it's an "enjoyable" place to visit "with a big group of people" and "watch a Mardi Gras parade."

First and foremost, the service was amazing. The host was on point and polite. The server Jacob was one of the best servers I have ever experienced. Jacob was conversational but not too much. He listened to us and made recommendations align with our expectations. The food was great as well! The alligator was delicious, the only thing risotto was perfect. Looking forward to my next visit during my next trip to New Orleans.

I was not impressed. I got the blackened catfish. It tasted like salt was just dumped all over the fish. I've had good catfish before and that was not it. They asked if they could get me something else, and then charged me the price of the other meal. Which is fine, it just would have been nice to know. When you're paying $22 for fish, I expect it to taste somewhat good. I wasn't too impressed over all.

The restaurant is gorgeous with that perfect mix of cool and New Orleans comfort, but the service is horrible. We waited over an hour for a table on a Friday night which wouldn't have been as bad if we weren't asked to stand just beside the doorway. Once we were seated, we were served small glasses of room temperature tap water and bread that was no longer warm. Once we put in our orders, it took 30 minutes for salads and appetizers to arrive. Luckily we had already ordered drinks from the bar while we were waiting to be seated. We waited an additional 45 minutes for entrees. Our server knew that we were irritated so she made sure to keep our glasses full of room temperature New Orleans "city punch". They ran out of the cold bread. The food was good. Was it worth the wait...ABSOLUTELY NOT! Go to DRAGOS instead.
