Sylvia's replaces French & Italian Bakery with a more modern looking bakery. Gone are the turn-of-a-century oven and see-through production area. The nostalgia of old-school Italian bakery feel is gone and replace with traditional bakery. There isn't any seating just two counter top stools overlooking prepping table. Rest of the place is just a display counter and all-white standard commercial kitchen gloss brick look. The girl behind counter was friendly while introducing what their signature items were. That turn out to be macaroons, and I mean dense and heavy version showing shredded coconut shavings. I try some samples then got me a raspberry scone and went to Cafe Trieste. I just like their coffee. Scone wasn'tt too sweet, but rather crunchy. Not unusual for triangular scones as they're baked from smaller area to larger method.

Almost good -- we stopped by and asked for a piece of cheesecake, but after he took it out, he said he had to throw it out because it was a few days old. 🤷‍♂️ Also not a huge deal, but was overcharged $1 for a piece of cornbread, saying that the price had changed that morning and the price in the window was wrong. The cornbread wasn't amazing but also wasn't bad. Not the same operational excellence that you see at its sister restaurants like Don Pisto's or Pete's, but it's a bright clean spot with room for improvement. I'll be excited to try it again once they've settled in a bit longer.

Pre-ordered a banana creme pie, and it was fantastic.
