"Justifiably popular" for "memorable" , "amazingly delicious" Peruvian fare and "terrific, unusual cocktails" (the "ceviches and pisco sours are a must" ), this River North "gem" from chef Gastón Acurio also rates for "fabulous" , "attentive" service; the "colorful" setting is "full of energy" (and "noise" ) so some prefer the "beautiful" , if "hard-to-get-into" open-air rooftop.

Came here for a team dinner. Great service and food. It's a bit more than just Peruvian food. The only reason that I wouldn't give five stars is the space, which feels kind of crowded and small. The atmosphere doesn't feel large enough when you can't eat at the bar upstairs.

Came here last night with my husband to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and it was another great experience (like always). The food here is PHENOMENAL. I was born in Lima, Peru & Tanta truly has the best ceviche in Chicago. The manager, Neil, stopped by at our table and asked us about our food, experience, etc and he even gave us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary! This place is amazing, atmosphere is great. I definitely recommend this over any other Peruvian restaurant in Chicago! The rooftop atmosphere is great as well! The entree portions are big so if you're going with a group of people you can definitely go "family style".

What a wonderful restaurant to have brunch on a Sunday! We have enjoyed Sunday brunch three times already at Tanta, and it is always a delightful experience. We have ordered different dishes every time and everything has been interesting, very tasty and pleasingly (still practically) plated. We usually go around 1.30pm when it is more quiet (the way we like it). One change I would like to hear is Peruvian (South American) music ALL the time. Tanta Management, could you please cut out the techno/club music? (The music alternates between South American and mind-numbing, irritating techno/club.) This is a Peruvian restaurant. Keep the music authentic.
