A Central Park “landmark” , this “storied” American has a “delightfully updated” rustic interior and a “splendid” tree-lined courtyard; it may be a “tourist” magnet with “serviceable” food that “doesn’t soar as high as the prices” , but it’s “worth checking out” for an experience that’s “so very NYC.”

We had reservations here for 8 on Sunday afternoon. As we waited for our table, many people were turned away due to no reservations. There is first-come, first-serve at the tables surrounding the bar, but that is hard to get. My advice is to definitely get reservations in advance. We were seated in a great section and our server was very attentive. She asked us if we had somewhere to be, which we did, so she got our orders in quick and they came out fast, well before we needed to leave. The drinks were great! My mother and father in law loved it so much, they went back for lunch later in the week during our trip.

Beautiful place, the food is excellent and the staff extremely nice and helpful. You have to book in advance for brunch because they only do it Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant has a fancy decoration and I have to say that the pecan tart is the best one I’ve tried. The eggs Benedict with lobster are a must and the flat bread with steak is amazing. The cocktails are really good and quite strong. The price is good considering where the place is.

What a treasure!! I'm a native New Yorker who after 70 years is just discovering the magic of the Tavern on the Green. It is my new favorite place in the city. The crystal room is fabulous. The courtyard is fabulous. Well it is all just fabulous. The light background music...Frank Sinatra "Fly Me to the Moon" was a dream, come true after dealing with the loud harsh music in,so many NY eateries. I loved every thing about the lunch I had. Food was delicious...waiter friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back....which will be very soon!!
