Luxe Southeast Asian hotel restaurant
Asian · $$$$
Southeast Asian dishes are artfully composed at this posh dining room in the West End's Danforth Inn, which offers tasting menus (with or without lobster) and house cocktails that hark to early 20th-century Singapore. The elegant space mixes plush fabrics with midcentury-modern furniture and uptempo music to create a sleek scene suited for special occasions.

Delicious but laughably small servings...got hit with a hidden $33 "whole bottle fee" on wine. Excellent service, nice atmosphere, poor value...your hard earned $$$ are best spent elsewhere.

Phenomenal cocktails and food. Exceptional service, flavors, and culinary creations. I worship anything that comes out of that kitchen. One of the best meals that I have had in world (having traveled through Central/Eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia).

I cannot say enough good things about Tempo Dulu. Yes, it's expensive. We each got the four-course meal for $70 (which, with all the free courses they bring you, is closer to an 8-course meal). But the food is so creative – and more importantly, so insanely delicious, unique and memorable – that the price doesn't matter. Here are some highlights for us: The Maine lobster poached in lobster butter over crabmeat fried rice; the pork belly w/ five-spice egg, cilantro puree and sambal tamarind glaze; the halibut w/ grilled-pineapple puree and chiles; the hoi tod w/ smoked oysters; the lime mouse dessert; the free rice cakes w/ asian dipping sauces; etc., etc., etc. Portland has a lot of amazing restaurants. Tempo Dulu is among the best of the best. Go as soon as you can.
