"Smooth" Irish coffee that will "warm you up" "on a cold, foggy day" keeps this Fisherman's Wharf "classic" "bustling with locals and tourists" alike; the interior has "hardly changed" from when the place opened in 1916, and "quaint" servers dishing out "decent" fare, including "hearty" breakfasts, add to the "wonderful throwback" atmosphere, but for many the house-specialty elixir "is enough."

An emblematic stop if you are visiting SF, tourists come here for their famous Irish coffee. I went on a Sunday evening at the place was packed. Costumers need to seat themselves either at the bar or at one of the shared tables. You have to be fast because there’s a lot of people waiting to snatch any available seat. The coffees was nice and it was an nice show seeing as they prepared them. The staff were very happy and chatty despite of having a very busy time.

You absolutely have to come here when visiting Fisherman's wharf, and you must have the Irish coffee. It was invented here but most importantly it was perfected here! The place is always crowded but its worth the wait, believe me, it's worth the wait. Make sure and plan time to try some lunch or dinner also, the menu here is full of comfort food favorites and the food is very well prepared, you won't be disappointed. Insiders tip- Try and sit at the bar toward the middle, far enough from the door to not be crowded but in perfect position to watch the masters at work making dozens of Irish coffees at a time. Great drinks and a show!

We stopped in for a quick Irish Coffee. It was fun to watch them make several of the drinks. It was very good, strong, and the topping was delicious. They also served food which did look pretty appetizing. Nice atmosphere with a mix of people dining and just stopping in for a quick coffee.
