I normally actually never write reviews but I have to in regards to The Commoner. This is hands down the best bar/club I have been to in Houston. I have been to many clubs in every major city on earth and this place ranks high up there for a few reasons. First the doormen are super legit, they do not hold the line like most places, and they are far from racist. Not sure why the last the comment below was talking about, the music is great, it gets really packed downstairs but I mean that makes sense seeing how good this place is. My only complaint is I miss the house music that would play upstairs but the music is great regardless. Keep the great work up and please do not close down!! Cheers

Two clubs in one. The Commoner (downstairs) and The Boulevardier (upstairs) provide completely different vibes between each other. However, they both play cool music; just pick your poison if you like more old school or newer sound. Between my first visit to these clubs and the last time I did, the popularity has increased a lot since now you'll have to wait in line before you can get in. In the past, I'd be able to walk right in. The good thing, however, they still don't charge cover. They're not too pretentious about what you wear (baseball hat and sneakers are acceptable), and most importantly, they don't discriminate their patrons. These clubs get packed but getting a drink is never a problem, as long as you can get to the bar. Fighting the crowd to get to the bar is the real challenge here. Will be back.

Went here for the first time on a Saturday and had an amazing time! The door men were helpful and quickly moved the line through. Two clubs in one (upstairs and downstairs) nice crowd and the music ranged from 90’s r&b, hip hop and new upcoming music. Wide variety of songs and the dj was sooo good nobody could stop dancing. Because of where the club is located i would recommend you Uber and get dropped off on the corner of Main Street.
