The Fat Monk
Gastropub with hearty yet refined fare
New American · West 100s · $$$
From chef Rob McCue, this Upper West Side gastropub serves hearty fare made with refined techniques, including a roster of small plates and burgers. Housemade ingredients go into the sweet and savory cocktails, while the bar gives a nod to monastic living with its rustic stone walls and stained glass.

Great food. Chicken and waffles were great as was the shortrib that came with my "Monk's Breakfast". Owner spent some time chatting with us and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The Smoked Bloody Mary is one of the best I've ever had. It's out of the way for us, but if we're in that area for any reason, we're definitely going back!

A hidden gem on the upper west side. Absolutely excellent food. The duck lasagna and the Wellington are superb. And the ever changing menu keeps us coming back again and again.

It's a great Neighborhood Restaurant. Warm and cozy. Solid food. I had the Beef Wellington and it was delicious. Although I prefer the more traditionally prepared dish with fois gras but this was deftly executed.
