The Folly
Nautical gastropub for seafood
Gastropub · Greenwich Village · $$
Resembling a cross between a ship’s cabin (with nautical rope fastening the wooden banquettes) and a burlesque house, with drawn curtains, tufted sofas and ritzy wallpaper, this ornate Houston Street gastropub doesn’t lack for atmosphere. Both the seafood menu (featuring oyster shooters, a fish fry and lobster mac ’n’ cheese) and simple cocktails like the Horn Blower are in keeping with the seafaring theme.

The Folly is one of my favorite bars. They have a great happy hour and the food is delicious! The bartenders and servers are also super nice. In addition to all of that, I love their decor! The layout is nice and spacious, and there's even a small upstairs area which is great if you want to gather with a group of friends.

I really like this place. It has a cozy vibe and happy hour every day during the day and in the evening until 8pm. You can pretty much always find a seat because it's huge. Service is decently fast, and when they accidentally served us a vinegar-y wine, they immediately admitted it and replaced it. My main complaint is that they often seem to run out of things, especially the delicious frozen "grog".

Great bar. Reasonable. Nice interior. Went twice.
