The Office NYC
Rarified cocktail bar with playful bites
Bar · West 50s · $$$$
Tucked into The Aviary, an offshoot of the Chicago bar by Alinea’s Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas, this rarified spot on the 35th floor of the Mandarin Oriental serves high-end cocktails, ultra-vintage spirits and fancy bites (which can also be ordered as a playful tasting menu with drink pairings). The richly designed space has a clubby, old-time style, and reservations are recommended.

I’ve been to this place almost 10 times since they opened and I’ve always been impressed. The food is delicious and the presentation is beautiful. Of course the drinks are the standout. You can order off the menu, but it’s better to just tell the amazing bar tenders like Jonah what you like and let them use their skills. A sophisticated and quiet spot in NYC. Get the ice cream sundae as well!!!

Wow. This bar is a hidden gem inside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel right off of Columbus Circle in Manhattan New York. On the 35th floor behind the lobby lounge. High priced cocktails and spirits. Tell your server what your likes are and the bartender will make you a customized drink. We will definitely be going back.

Yeah. Right. This place has a long way to go before it comes close to some of the incredible cocktails available in NYC for 1/2 the price, far better service and ingenuity. Anyone rating this 5 stars should be disqualified from reviewing further. They requested info about our “special event” during the reservation, and did nothing with the information, it was only a rouse. Bartender said their speciality was creating a “balanced” cocktail based on preference, and the ingredient ratio was extremely lopsided, the serving glasses were bland and there were no garnishes (even in a classic drink), let alone any presentation. Also, they will add your significantly-higher-than-deserved tip to your bill after you paid far too much for undrinkable drinks.
