THE POOL
Seafood spot in a revived iconic space
Seafood · East 50s · $$$$
Reviving the famed Pool Room of the former Four Seasons, a landmarked space by Philip Johnson and Mies van der Rohe, this Midtown destination preserves the central pool and artwork (such as the overhead Calder sculpture), recreates its midcentury-modern furnishings and brings in new design elements that nod to the ocean. Chef/co-owner Rich Torrisi helms the kitchen, focusing on raw and simply prepared seafood served with sides to share.

One of the most amazing dining experiences you could possibly have, beyond all imagination. The staff, particularly head waiter Chris and sommelier Michael, could not have been more brilliant, charming, and warm. Our first time here, but we felt like regulars. And we plan to be as regular here as our bank account allows. That said, with everything we had, and we had everything, we thought it would be even more expensive. This place is a dream and it made a special night more special.

Such an amazing dining experience. The service was so incredible Chris and his management took such good care ya. Everyone was so pleasant and attentive not once did they try to rush us like almost every other place in NYC and the atmosphere was stunning. I really appreciated all the attention to detail that was given to the interior as well as what was on the plate. The food was delicious, not one dish was over seasoned or under whealming. Charred octopus was way better than any I have had, foie gras had a hint of cherry and pistachio which was perfectly done. Even the simplest foods like beets they made into a delectable appetizer. The yellowfin tuna toast with harissa and olive was another favorite and the sea urchin toast was great if you can handle the strong flavor. The chocolate mousse desert was not too rich and not too sweet. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my evening at The Pool and I will definitely be back here soon.

Not only is the atmosphere great, the staff is incredible. You should request Andrew as your server he’s very knowledgeable and friendly. You’ll be very pleased with his recommendations and wine pairings! Definitely wanting to go back soon!
